History and origins
Cinto Euganeo lies in one of the oldest areas of the Euganean Hills, a hill system born from underwater volcanic activity tens of millions of years ago, when this area was covered by a tropical sea. Human settlement of the territory dates back to remote times, favoured by mineral resources and fertile soils resulting from the volcanic nature of the ground. Over the centuries the village has retained a rural character, tied to farming the hill slopes and, more recently, to quarrying trachyte and basalt in the sites scattered across the area.
