Proximity to the Vicenza provincial capital is Monticello Conte Otto's most defining trait, a municipality that has progressively become a residential area for those who work in Vicenza but prefer to live in a less densely built-up setting. Road links to the city are quick, which has favoured a moderate but steady pace of residential development over the years.
The area's historic villas
The municipality's own name recalls the presence of a noble family, the Conte Otto, who, like other families of the Veneto mainland, owned land and residences in this plain area just outside Vicenza.
